The Maldives is rejoicing as it officially reaches the milestone of 1 million tourist arrivals in 2023!
Anton Pavlov, the fortunate traveler, became the one-millionth tourist to step foot in the Maldives this year. Upon his arrival at Velana International Airport (VIA), he was warmly greeted by officials from the Ministry of Tourism, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), and Maldives Immigration.
The Ministry of Tourism initially projected that the one-millionth tourist would arrive in July. However, the Maldives has surpassed expectations by achieving this significant milestone ahead of schedule.
With this remarkable accomplishment, the government's ambitious goal of attracting 1.8 million tourists in 2023 seems more attainable than ever. The consistent flow of tourists arriving daily, coupled with the anticipated surge during the peak tourism season in November and December, paints a highly promising picture. Not only does it indicate the likelihood of meeting the target, but there is also a potential to surpass it.
