Maldives Halal Travel has represented Maldives at the Muslim Travel Show held from 24th to 25th February 2024 at Excel London. The annual conference is now in its sixth year and showcases options for halal travel, consumerism, dining and cultural activities and events all over the word to both Muslim and non-Muslim audiences.
Organized by the British Islamic Trade Association (BITA), along with the Muslim Travel Show, two other main events; the London Muslim Shopping Festival and the Halal Dining Show was held in the same location.
On behalf of Maldives Halal Travel, Dr. Sunny Umar represented the Maldives as a speaker during the Muslim Travel Show 2024. The two-day show brought together stakeholders committed to promoting halal travel destinations and consumer offers to the Muslim community across the globe.
Focusing on the halal segment, Dr. Sunny spoke on the global halal industry and its importance to the Maldives in terms of the rapidly growing halal travel component. In his address at Excel London, Dr. Sunny noted that the UK was the fourth top-market for tourists traveling to the Maldives, representing a diverse community of travelers from all faiths and ethnicities. Dr Sunny mentioned that given Maldives is a 100% Muslim country, the existing infrastructure is already well equipped to cater seamlessly to the halal travel market, but highlighted gaps in the promotion of Maldives as a destination for halal-conscious travelers and audiences.
