From 1st January to 31st May, Maldives has recorded a total of 699,468 tourist arrivals.
In May alone, Maldives averaged 4,089 arrivals daily with their stay period at approximately 8 days and 122,668 tourists’ arrivals were recorded for the whole month. In contrast to last year this is an increase of 93.4%.
The top market for Maldives tourism is India with a contribution of 14% to the total tourist arrivals that were recorded. 12.5% and 9.5% of this data comes from United Kingdom and Russia, respectively. Germany, USA, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, and Saudi Arabia are amongst the other major markets that contributed to this feat.
Furthermore, as this is the Maldives 50th year in the tourism industry, the country has several celebrations up the sleeve to commemorate this golden jubilee.
