Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA), the world’s largest seaplane operator, continues to lead the aviation industry with two major wins at the 31st Annual World Travel Awards, held in Portugal on November 24, 2024. TMA was honored as both the World’s Leading Seaplane Operator 2024 and Indian Ocean’s Leading Seaplane Operator 2024, marking its impressive 10th consecutive victory in the regional category.
Since its founding in 1993, TMA has revolutionized air travel in the Maldives, offering unmatched connectivity across the nation’s 16 atolls. Operating a fleet of 65 DHC-6 Twin Otters, TMA provides over 400 daily flights, linking more than 80 luxury resorts. Its operational excellence has been integral in solidifying the Maldives as the World’s Leading Destination.
TMA’s CEO, Mr. A.U.M. Fawzy, expressed pride in the achievement, saying, “We are honored to receive these prestigious awards and celebrate a decade of excellence. Our commitment to innovation ensures that every flight offers a memorable, elevated experience for our guests.”
Beyond the World Travel Awards, TMA achieved further recognition in 2024, including being named Leading Tourist Transport Provider (Air) at the South Asian Travel Awards and winning Best Luxury Seaplane Lounge at the Seven Stars Luxury Hospitality and Lifestyle Awards. TMA also made history as the first South Asian airline to be recognized as a DHC-Endorsed Service Center, a testament to its excellence in maintenance.
