Homestay tourism has been introduced in GA. Kolamaafushi and the services will be provided officially later this month.

Rooms have been readied on two islands in accordance with homestay norms, and two Austrian guests have already checked into the properties.

On January 1, the Maldives inaugurated the homestay tourism idea, with the first registered property in M. Dhiggaru. With the introduction of homestay, the Tourism Ministry has eased the restrictions for local guesthouses.
