Alif Dhaalu atoll is home to some of the best halal guesthouses in the Maldives, and one of them is Perla Dhangethi situated in, you guessed it, Alif Dhaalu Dhangethi. Located around 88km southwest from the capital city Male’, Dhangethi is the 3rd largest populated island of the atoll. It is home to some 1200 Muslims, however most of them have moved to Male’ for better resources and now only 500 people live on the island.
In the heart of the island sits Perla Dhangeti, known for its cleanliness and well-hygienic measurements. The guesthouse features 14 spacious rooms that are so well-furnished it feels like you’re in a luxurious resort than in a local island guesthouse. With up-to-date facilities, guests’ choice of either a private patio or private balcony, all rooms are mostly furnished from wood. Guests can choose the room of their choice from either a Deluxe Double/Twin Room or a Suite. All rooms here are guaranteed to provide the guests with the utmost privacy that they need which is perfect for Muslims.
Perla Dhangethi has lots of recreational facilities as well, such as free bicycles to in-house guests, a well-maintained private in-door pool that is unlike any other in the island, an affiliated gym center, and free snorkeling kits. Moreover, the guesthouse has their own pets within the vicinity that they take care of themselves. A pair of Macaws named Santti and Thiyan, an iguana called Gregg, and 2 half Maine coon and Persian twins, Kharl and Coco. All their pets are well loved by all the guests and treated well. There is also an internal medicine specialist available in case of any health emergency for the guests.
Being in Maldives means every activity has to do with water, as we are surrounded by beautiful crystal-clear waters all around, and Dhangethi is no different. Perla Dhangethi offers watersports activities as well as snorkeling and scuba diving with a private guide who will take the guests to the best sites in the area. Guests can also have a picnic on one of the 2 nearby sandbanks, with the Perla Dhangethi staff being their chauffeur, or go fishing to the best points in the atoll with all fishing equipment being provided by Perla Dhangethi.
As Maldives is a 100% Muslim country, and Dhangethi is a local island, everything there is 100% halal too. No food in the island contains any alcohol or pork content and is very Muslim-friendly as the people there are Muslims as well. All guests are advised to cover themselves when in the country as a form of respect.
There are 5 main ways to get to the island of Dhangethi. A scheduled speedboat from Velana International Airport to Dhangethi and vice versa takes around 2 hours. Domestic plane or seaplane from Velana International Airport to the atoll’s main airport, Maamigili Airport is a 20-minutes ride, followed by 25-minutes of getting from there to Dhangethi by speedboat. Public Ferry Dhoanis operate 2-3 times a week, though it takes almost 6 hours. Speedboats are available for private hires as well.
